Police Identify Suspect In Officer's Shooting Death  Police said Saturday that they have a suspect following Thursday's murder of a Columbus police officer. Authorities are searching for Daryl Martez Lawrence who was receiving treatment at the Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., Friday night. Police are calling Lawrence a suspect following Thursday's shooting death of Columbus police Officer Bryan Hurst. He was killed during a robbery at Fifth-Third Bank . Hurst, 33, was working special duty at the bank when a man in a ski mask tried to rob it. The robber was wounded in an exchange of gunfire with the officer. - (Rasp)

Police say Mitchell lured a special education student back to his West Oak Lane home last month, where the assault allegedly occurred. Local attorneys can't try Titusville slaying case - Suspect's mother is a staffer for prosecutor's office   Prosecutors from outside Brevard County will handle the case of a man accused of beating his girlfriend to death over 11 hours because the man's mother works for the Brevard County State Attorney's Office. The State Attorney said he petitioned Gov. Jeb Bush for permission to assign the case to be handled in Brevard by an attorney from another county, as he did when Gregory McGruder, 25, previously was accused of beating the same victim, Amanda Ratliff, 20. Police said McGruder used a beer bottle, a table leg and a vacuum cleaner during a daylong beating apparently prompted by Ratliff's attempt to flee their relationship. - (forum) |
Prostitute reports "juan" Federico to police for child porn A Hollywood (Florida) hooker turned in one of her johns Tuesday night after she saw graphic child pornography in his apartment. "It's not that often that we encounter a prostitute with a conscience," said Capt. Tony Rode. "But we are really glad that this one stepped up to the plate and called police." Governor Commutes Convicted Black Murderer's Death Sentence  Gov. Joe Kernan granted clemency to a man convicted of murdering a minister in 1978 and incarcerated on Indiana's death row longer than anyone else. Kernan, acted just three days before his term as governor ends. He granted clemency to Michael Daniels, who will stay in prison for the rest of his life without the possibility of parole, the governor's office said. Daniels was convicted of killing White Army chaplain Allan Streett in a $1 robbery as he shoveled snow from his driveway with his then 15-year-old son. Murder Warrant Issued in Motel Owner's Killing Richland County investigators have obtained a murder warrant against Antonio Lavelle Kennedy, 32, for the December 21, 2000 shooting death of a motel owner. Art Mullet, 60, owner/operator of the Scottish Inn motel was killed around midnight in his office. Kennedy is also known as Brandon Romano Kennedy. Kennedy is possibly driving a 1992 green Buick Roadmaster with either Mississippi, Louisiana, or Tennessee tags. Kennedy has lived in Memphis and New Orleans and may still be in one of those
areas. While in South Carolina, deputies learned that
Kennedy was a disc jockey at both a Columbia nightclub and an Orangeburg

Suspected Killer Caught A man was arrested Friday on charges that he fatally shot a 15-year-old Philadelphia boy and wounded three others last month. William Brown, 27, of Philadelphia, was arrested without incident at 6:30 a.m. at a Philadelphia apartment, the FBI said. Defiant NAACP president reverend pleaded guilty to drugs and weapons charges - gets seven years  In pleading guilty to drugs and weapons charges Alexandria's NAACP president remained defiant. The Rev. Joe Buckner Sr. turned his back to the DA as he questioned him. Buckner also broke down, crying and throwing up his hands as he answered the questions. "Whatever the questions, the answer is yes," Buckner said. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People leader admitted to taking "pseudo cocaine" and real cocaine from an undercover officer to try to produce crack cocaine. Edgecombe Teen Accused Of ID Theft - Troy Davis Accused Of Stealing Personal Info From Mailboxes Investigators said they busted the largest case of identity theft ever in Edgecombe County and a 17-year-old is one of the people responsible. Troy Davis faces 130 charges for stealing IDs and using them for a shopping
spree. Investigators said Davis went through Edgecombe County, stealing mail
from people's boxes on the side of the road. He then reportedly used personal
information from the mail to apply for credit cards, which he used to buy things

Surprise, surprise: A new OIC scandal - Black Nigerian Migrant suspect in corruption  Investigators from a slew of federal agencies are probing the recent purchase by a top official at the Opportunities Industrialization Center of Greater Milwaukee of about $45,000 worth of cell phones, using OIC resources, for apparent shipment to Nigeria. "I'm thoroughly surprised, disappointed and angered that this could happen - that anybody would use OIC for their own personal gain," interim President Tyrone Dumas said Thursday. The person at the center of the probe, former Chief Financial Officer Cordelia Ekwueme, refused to answer questions, except to refer us to her lawyer, Marty Kohler. Kohler declined to discuss the matter."No more comments, goodbye," said Ekwueme, a native of Nigeria who left OIC last week after seven years with the agency. Ex-shoplifter "Lance" - now top aide to DeKalb County CEO faces charges of kidnapping, drugging and raping woman  The warrent charges he held a 19-year-old woman last month against her will at a hotel. Lance Robertson, deputy chief of staff to Jones, turned himself in. The woman told police the man bought her drinks before she blacked out. According to the report, the woman woke up naked lying next to Robertson, who was also naked. Robertson has been in trouble before. According to police reports, the man was arrested in 1999 for shoplifting from a DeKalb Kroger grocery store. Former Miami City Commissioner Art Teele charged with trying to force a police officer off the road  Former Miami City Commissioner Art Teele is awaiting trial on assault charges and newly released audiotapes may reveal what led to his arrest. The undercover cops were following Teele as part of a public corruption case against him. But they say Teele turned the tables and started chasing them, in particular one investigator nicknamed Bull. The officers said the chase ended when Teele threatened to shoot and kill one of the cops if he followed him again. James City County Officials Search for Answers in White Teen's Rape-Murder  As officials in James City County continue their homicide investigation into the death of 16-year old Britney Binger, they say their plea to the woman who initially alerted them to her body to get back on contact with authorities was successful. Police say Binger was so badly beaten they sent dental records to Richmond to help with her identification.Police believe Binger was also sexually assaulted. They think she was attacked Sunday night as she was walking between two nearby mobile home parks. The victim said she screamed and when she did, the man got in front of her, pulled her pants down and sexually assaulted her. The woman said her attacker then demanded she hand over her cell phone and cash, before fleeing the train at the next stop. Mother Thinks Daughter Was Slain In Black Satanic Ritual  The mother of a slain teenage girl from Ashland says her daughter may have been the victim of a satanic ritual. Police say Amanda Maynard, 15, died after her neighbor, Kenneth Ray O'Neal, Jr., 19, broke in her home, stabbed and sexually assaulted her on New Year's Day. Maynard was home alone, when neighbors reported a disturbance at the home about 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Maynard had been stabbed multiple times and sexually assaulted. Maynard's mother said O'Neal had been listening to "satanic" music, referring to sexual acts involving a knife prior to the killing. O'Neal was a member of the area's "gothic community". |
Nashville Authorities search for accused smooth-talking child sex offender who raped an 11-year-old girl  Investigators in Nashville need your help finding an accused child rapist. The man's alleged victim was an 11-year-old Florida girl. 51-year-old Bernard Gough, who also goes by the name Bill Edwards, is wanted on two courts of sexual battery. Police are concerned that if he is staying with a family, they need to be aware to protect their children. Police also have information that he was staying at local homeless shelters at one time because he helped start a homeless clinic in Florida. Tips Lead to Rape Suspects' Arrest  Police caught up with two rape suspects after they tossed their alleged victim's purse in the trash. The tell-tale clue was caught on a convenience store surveillance system. It was on an upscale Summerlin street where police say a 60-year-old woman was brutally raped. She was driving home at 2 a.m. on New Year's Eve and was attacked in a car in front of her home.
